The Society of the Four Arts acquired what is now the Dixon Education Building from the Palm Beach County School District in December 2010 after six years of negotiations. Now our architects are at work, designing a new life for the building that will relieve serious space problems for The Four Arts and enable us, at last, to accommodate our thriving Campus on the Lake program.
At present, education programs operate in “found” space: a conference room here, a library room there, our 750-seat auditorium whenever a presentation attracts more than fifty people.
Imagine the new possibilities we can realize in the Dixon Education Building.
With four spacious classrooms, including an art studio, we can schedule several simultaneous classes. With flexible spaces and a seminar room seating 75, we can accommodate larger lecture audiences without their feeling lost in our 700-seat Gubelmann Auditorium. A new demonstration kitchen will be available not only for catered events, but also for cooking classes, wine tastings and other adventures in the culinary arts.
Upstairs in the Dixon Education Building, two rooms and a dead-end hallway will be transformed into an artist’s studio apartment. This will enable The Four Arts to welcome a visiting artist each season—a painter, composer, or writer who will live and work among us, teach classes, explain works in progress, and help us unlock our own creativity.
The crowning years of our lives are great years for learning.
Our newly expanded Campus on the Lake promises not only to enrich our lives and minds, but also to create a larger model: one that other communities will emulate as our population ages and demand for life-long learning grows.
We hope you will join us in creating this exciting story of the future: a story that will be as rich and positive as the history launched by our founders more than 75 years ago. Contact (561) 659-8506 for more information.

Thank you for your interest in The Society of the Four Arts! All of our programs are open to the public and membership is not required to attend any events. That being said, we have two options for membership.
1Library members receive borrowing and laptop computer privileges and discounts to many Campus on the Lake workshops. Membership in the King Library costs $40 for Palm Beach residents and $50 for all others. In addition, membership to the Children’s Library is free for all families with children. Upon visiting the Children’s Library, you will have an opportunity to fill out a library card at no charge. This card allows you to check out materials from the Children’s Library and your information can be added to the Children’s Library mailing list for future newsletter mailings.
2The second type of membership is more of a tradition. The number of Four Arts Members is purposefully limited to match the number of seats in the auditorium. As a result, there is a two to three year wait to join. A current member may pick up an application on your behalf and two members must sponsor your application. Members can pick up an application from the Rovensky Administration building Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The Society of the Four Arts is proud to be a community serving cultural institution and all of our programs are open to the public. We hope to see you at the Four Arts often this season!
Who Are We?
The Four Arts Contemporaries is a group of supporters in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s at The Society of the Four Arts. During the season, November through April, these young supporters hold events encouraging the appreciation of art, drama, music and literature — the “four arts” represented by The Society.
Four Arts Contemporaries members receive multiple benefits at The Society of the Four Arts, as well as invitations to exclusive arts-related events. Past events have included private gallery tours, wine tastings, and trips to Art Basel in Miami.
Contemporaries membership is based on a referral system. If you share our passion for art and culture, please have a current Contemporaries member request an application on your behalf.
