Around DvořákA festival featuring three performances organized by David Finckel and Wu Han, with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center
This program frames Dvořák with his ancestor and descendent: Bedřich Smetana, the acknowl- edged “father” of Czech music, and Harry Burleigh, the student at New York’s National Conservatory who taught Dvořák African Amer- ican spirituals which informed some of his works. For the vocal set of Dvořák’s Gypsy Songs, Wu Han will be joined by a mezzo- soprano from Palm Beach Opera.
Cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han are co- directors of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and among the most influential classical musicians in the world. Joining them is a hand- picked selection of musicians who are among the world’s most sought-after solo and chamber artists.
