Back by popular demand, this course reveals the courage it took for Impressionist artists to rebel against the more conservative and hierarchical art of the past as they initiated new styles and subject matter.

Joan Lipton, Ph.D. is an independent lecturer and art historian who has held numerous workshops at The Four Arts and other adult education centers. She holds two master’s degrees and a doctorate with specializations in the Renaissance and in 19th- and 20th-century art.
