Dr. Christina Filis

Dr. Christina Filis is currently adjunct faculty at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach Florida. She completed her Bachelor of Art at the University of North Carolina in Music, Master of Art in Historical Musicology, and Ph.D. in Historical Musicology with a specialty in Byzantine Music. Her most recent publication is “The Doxastarion of Markos Domestikos in The New Analytical Method: A critical Analysis of a Musical Legacy.” In addition to her academic career, she is a professional Protopsaltis (Master Chanter) for the Greek Orthodox Church, and was the first female Protopsaltis at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral (Washington, D.C.). Dr. Filis has worked under the tutelage of Master Chanters, Stelios Kontakiotis (Tinos, Greece) and Dr. yorgos Bilalis (NyC). Additionally, she has toured with the professional ensemble, Romeiko, as well as solo chanting performances in Greece, the United States and Turkey.


There is no charge to attend.
