PALM BEACH, FLA: The Society of the Four Arts invites the community to learn techniques for better health at a free lecture taking place at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018. Scott Gerson, M.D., Ph.D. (Ayurveda) will offer insights into the practice of Ayurveda, one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems that has been practiced for more than 3,000 years. Dr. Gerson will share effective, yet little-known, practices and methods to reawaken the human mind and body. The lecture takes place at the Four Arts Dixon Education Building. There is no charge to attend but reservations should be made at (561) 805-8562 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dr. Gerson is the Medical Director of the Department of Integrative Medicine Division of Education and Research at Jupiter Medical Center and the only physician in the United States to have complete formal training in both conventional and Ayurvedic medicine. In this lecture, he will show how Ayurveda is not simply a health care system, but an entire lifestyle developed to maintain perfect balance and harmony during human existence, from the most abstract spiritual values to the most concrete physical expressions. Ayurveda offers a fresh model for life and health in which the human body is seen as a lattice of energy and information, rather than as solid matter. As vitality has nothing to do with chronological age, this lecture will provide practical steps toward better health for attendees of any stage of life.
Dr. Gerson is one of the world’s leading physicians and researchers in Ayurvedic Medicine and is well versed in virtually all modalities of alternative medicine. He attended Brandeis University in Waltham, MA and received his B.A. in Philosophy. He then traveled to Europe and eventually to India where he met one of his early teachers, the highly renown Vaidya Dr. V.N. Pandey, the director of the Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha Medicine. Through this friendship, Dr. Gerson began to earnestly study Ayurveda and eventually continued his studies at the College of Ayurveda in Trivandrum, where he spent almost three years.
He was awarded the Master of Philosophy in Ayurveda jointly from Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, and Pune University in 1999 and his Ph.D. in the subject of panchakarma from Pune University in 2003. He returned to the United States and attended medical school once again, this time at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in his native New York and continued his education for three additional years with residency positions at several teaching hospitals including New York University Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, and New York Downtown Hospital, completing the requirements for training in the specialty of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Gerson’s practice is located in Jupiter Medical Center located within the Calcagnini Mindfulness Center where his main activity is the treatment of patients in need of medical care and direction in the widest sense.
